Jamie & Brian | The American Legion

If you read my last post, then you will know what I mean when I say Jamie is another lovely bride who I went to grade school and high school with. I think I know Jamie since 3rd or 4th grade! We had different groups of friends but like I said before, Catasauqua is a very small town and everyone knows everyone. Jamie and I crossed paths a lot in High school, I remember working on music mixes for the competition cheering squad trying to get the counts right, or practicing for the lip sync during spirit week with all the other seniors.
Fast forward 8+ years to when I got an email from Jamie saying she was engaged and had to hire me for her wedding! I of course always jump at the chance to work with someone I know! The connection and comfort level is already established (even though I feel like there is a little more pressure because I know this person and have to try harder to impress them!) We got together at their apartment where I met Brian for the first time. Jamie, Brian, Jamie’s mom and I chatted for a couple hours! I know they were all set to hire me, and continue planning their perfect wedding! Then like so many teachers out there, Jamie was furloughed. Plans had to changed and I know they were unsure of how their wedding plans would pan out. 2 months later, I got a call from Jamie asking if I still had her date open. When I answered yes, she said “That’s all I needed to hear. We are just going to make it work. It’s my wedding day and it only happens once!”
Fast forward to Jamie and Brian’s wedding day nearly a year later. As all the little details came together for one of the most unique and fun weddings I have ever had the opportunity to photograph, nothing could keep Jamie and Brian’s spirits down. It was more like a huge family and friends picnic than anything else complete with a ring toss, bean bags, KanJam, corn hole, horseshoes and quoits! After a really neat “in-the-round” ceremony, Jamie, Brian, and I snuck away really quick to the same nearby spots we did their engagement photos. On the way back, I heard Jamie and Brian say they hoped their guests were playing games. When we got back into view of the reception site, everyone was outside chatting, throwing shoes and playing all the games. It was even a little tough to get them back in for dinner!
As it got darker, and the drinks started flowing a little heavier, their guests moved back inside, some serious dance moves were throw down on the dance floor! Everyone was so happy to be there- it was really so amazing to be a part of it!
Jamie & Brian- I am so glad we got to reconnect all these years later. It’s funny how things works out sometimes. Who would have thought back in high school I would be photographing your wedding? Thank you so much for having me share in your day and preserve it for you.
